River City Ses­sions is Fri­day at Lula Lake

Join mem­bers of the Lula Lake Land Trust for a twi­light con­cert at Lula Lake Land Trust na­ture pre­serve on Look­out Moun­tain on Fri­day, June 8.

River City Ses­sions is a monthly show­case of lo­cal musicians and tal­ent. The Land Trust pre­serves nat­u­ral and his­toric prop­erty sur­round­ing Rock Creek and Bear Creek, works to ed­u­cate stu­dents on con­ser­va­tion and of­fers low-im­pact re­cre­ation on its prop­erty such as hik­ing, moun­tain bik­ing and eques­trian use.

Gates for River City Ses­sions will open at 4:30 p.m. in order to al­low guests to hike and ex­plore the Land Trust’s trails be­fore the per­for­mance. Hik­ing is open to tick­ethold­ers only.

Moun­tain Creek House Fire, the duo of Pat­tee Wil­banks and Robert Lovett, will en­ter­tain hik­ers with Busk­ing by the Lake at 5: 30 p. m. The musicians will have a tip jar if the au­di­ence wishes to show ap­pre­ci­a­tion.

Visi­tors should make their way back to cen­ter stage by 6: 30 p. m., when the duo Magic Birds will play fol­lowed by a sto­ry­telling per­for­mance by Michael Gray.

Then head­lin­ers Red Shoes & Rosin from Knoxville will take the stage. En­joy fid­dles, banjo, foot­stomp­ing mu­sic with a ka­zoo riff thrown in here and there. The string band is com­prised of Shawna Cyphers, Jes­sica Wat­son and Meade Arm­strong.

Beer and wine will be avail­able for a do­na­tion of $5 per glass. Lupi’s Pizza Pies and Clump­ies Ice Cream will have their prod­ucts for sale.

Guests may bring chairs or blan­kets for seat­ing, but can­not bring in cool­ers of their own.

Tick­ets are $10 in ad­vance and $ 12 on the day of the event. Chil­dren un­der 12 get in free. All pro­ceeds from ad­mis­sion and con­ces­sions will ben­e­fit Lula Lake Land Trust.

Guests should bring ei­ther their printed ticket or show their e-ticket on their cell­phones.
