Al­ley party any­one? The open­ing of the re­designed East Sev­enth Street al­ley space in down­town Chat­tanooga will be cel­e­brated with a free block party on Satur­day, Nov. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Mu­sic, food and dance per­for­mances will be part of the fam­ily-friendly en­ter­tain­ment for the open­ing of t he al­ley, called City Thread, at 10 E. Sev­enth St.

Mu­sic will start at 4 p. m. with Spin­ster, Court­ney Reid and War­saw play­ing. There will be a dance per­for­mance by Pop-Up Project along with food trucks, a cash bar and other ven­dors for guests to en­joy.

Vis­i­tors will hear from the Pas­sage­ways 2.0 de­sign team of Molly Hun­ker and Greg Corso from Syra­cuse, New York. The City Thread in­stal­la­tion con­sists of a con- tin­u­ous lin­ear tube with pro­jected “con­di­tions.” By virtue of its de­signs, City Thread could po­ten­tially be used for seat­ing, mini-stages, fram­ing for art, large gath­er­ings, farm­ers mar­kets, movie screen­ings and more.

Spin­ster is one of three mu­si­cal acts en­ter­tain­ing dur­ing Satur­day’s open­ing of City Thread on East Sev­enth Street.
