Today co-anchor and mom Savannah Guthrie co-wrote Princesses Wear Pants (Abrams, $18), available Sept. 12, with Allison Oppenheim to show their daughters that girls can be sparkly and still get the job done. Here are more children’s books she loves to read to her own kids, daughter Vale, 3, and son Charles, 9 months. Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty (Abrams), $18 “This is a quirky little story about giving kids a vision for succeeding in those areas, like science, that we don’t focus on enough.” The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt (Philomel Books), $18 “This book is a little old for my little girl, Vale, but I read books to her whether they’re suitable for her age or not. I love this one: It’s so clever and sassy and really fun.” River Rose and the Magical Lullaby by Kelly Clarkson (HarperCollins), $19 “A really sweet bedtime story about a little girl who goes on an adventure. I’m a huge Kelly Clarkson fan, and I love it because there’s a lullaby you can download. [Vale and I] put our own melody to it and we sing and read it together all the time.”
