In 2014, Bri­tish ac­tress Kristin Scott Thomas—who re­ceived an Os­car nom­i­na­tion for her role in The English Pa­tient (1996)—an­nounced she was tak­ing a break from movies to fo­cus on theater. But she’s back on­screen in the plum role of Win­ston Churchill’s wife, Cle­men­tine, in Dark­est Hour, in the­aters Nov. 22. The film takes place dur­ing the early days of World War II and the prime min­istry of Churchill (Gary Old­man). “It was a bril­liant story and re­vealed all sort of things that I didn’t know,” says the ac­tress, 57.
