The av­er­age per­son sleeps eight hours a night, which means their eyes are open—and work­ing— for 16 hours a day. To re­duce eye­strain, ev­ery 20 min­utes, look away from what you’re do­ing and look about 20 feet in front of you for 20 sec­onds. A 2013 study of al­most 800 univer­sity stu­dents found that this helped re­lieve com­puter vi­sion syn­drome, which can lead to eye­strain, blurry vi­sion and headache.
