New season of Arts on the Side opens with a history walk through downtown Athens
McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy, a 20-year law enforcement officer and public servant, will showcase his avocation, history, as the new season of Arts on the Side kicks off at The Arts Center, 320 N. White St. in Athens, Tenn. The monthly lunchtime series opens at noon Tuesday, Aug. 2, with a history walk through downtown Athens led by Guy, who has written two books on local law enforcement and five books on local and regional history. Held the first Tuesday of each month, Arts on the Side typically features a free performance or art demonstration. Attendees are welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch to enjoy during each presentation, coordinated by the Athens Area Council for the Arts.
