Pros­e­cu­tor ar­rested on drug, theft and mis­con­duct charges

An as­sis­tant dis­trict at­tor­ney in McNairy County, Tenn., was ar­rested on drug and mis­con­duct charges on Mon­day, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment is­sued by the Tennessee Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Then-25th Dis­trict At­tor­ney Gen­eral Michael Du­na­vant asked for the state agency to in­ves­ti­gate af­ter 57-year-old As­sis­tant Dis­trict At­tor­ney Bobby Gene Gray was charged on a grand jury in­dict­ment with two counts of of­fi­cial mis­con­duct, theft un­der $1,000, sim­ple pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule II con­trolled sub­stance and sim­ple pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule IV con­trolled sub­stance, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment is­sued by the TBI Thurs­day morn­ing.

Gray turned him­self in at the McNairy County Cor­rec­tional Cen­ter on Wed­nes­day, of­fi­cials said. He is no longer em­ployed by the 25th Ju­di­cial Dis­trict At­tor­ney’s Of­fice. The of­fice pros­e­cutes cases in Fayette, Harde­man, Laud­erdale, McNairy and Tip­ton coun­ties. The of­fice in McNairy County is in Selmer, about 40 miles south of Jack­son, Tenn.
