Americans are increasingly plowing money into their homes, and that’s good news for Home Depot.

The world’s biggest home-improvement retailer rang up its highest quarterly sales and richest earnings in the company’s history in the May-July quarter. Home Depot followed that up by boosting its outlook for the year. Financial analysts predict the company will report solid gains for its fiscal third quarter today.
