Support Heritage Center’s mission

Chattanooga Times Free Press - - OPINION -

We so appreciated the excellent TFP coverage of local veterans who have served our country in various wars and conflicts. Unfortunate as these wars may have been, the courage, selflessness and dedication of the men and women who’ve served, as well as their families, are worthy of our gratitude and respect. Because of this coverage in the days leading up to Veterans Day, our community was well reminded of what it takes to make our country free.

To add to our appreciation of our armed forces, on Sunday we heard Gen. Bill Raines talk about the state-of-the-art Medal of Honor Heritage Center that will open in the former Visitors Center next to the Aquarium. It will be a brick and mortar reminder of the heroic efforts so many of our countrymen have made. The museum is seeking community donors to help it become a tangible source of information about the principles of character, dedication and sacrifice that all of us need in our daily lives as Americans.

If you haven’t heard Gen. Raines’ presentation, I encourage you to attend one that he gives throughout the region.
