Mrs. Betty R. Jen­nings, 74 of Rock Run passed away May 15, 2011 at Gads­den Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter. Mrs. Jen­nings was a na­tive and life­long res­i­dent of Chero­kee County. She was a mem­ber of Union Grove United Methodist Church where she had served on the benev­o­lence com­mit­tee and the fel­low­ship com­mit­tee and was a mem­ber of the Union Grove G.L.A.D. group. She worked for sev­eral years in the tex­tile in­dus­try and loved fish­ing, trav­el­ing, yard sell­ing and cook­ing for ev­ery­one. Her life­long love was car­ing for oth­ers, spend­ing count­less hours car­ing for those who could not care for them­selves with love and com­pas­sion. She was the last sur­viv­ing child of a fam­ily of 13 chil­dren and was the grand­daugh­ter of one of the last Methodist cir­cuit rid­ing preach­ers. She was a lov­ing wife, mother, grand­mother and friend.

Ser­vices for Mrs. Jen­nings, were held May 18 at Union Grove United Methodist Church in Rock Run with the Rev. Bar­bara Mosley, the Rev. Tommy Led­bet­ter and the Rev. Michael Burgess of­fi­ci­at­ing. Thompson Fu­neral Home and Cre­ma­tory of Pied­mont in charge. Burial fol­lowed in the ad­join­ing ceme­tery. Sur­vivors in­clude her hus­band; Wil­lard Jen­nings, Rock Run, chil­dren; Brian Jen­nings (Donna), Rock Run, Diane Hawkins, Pied­mont, four grand­chil­dren, and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.
