Mrs. Betty R. Jennings
DEATHS AND FUNERALS
Mrs. Betty R. Jennings, 74 of Rock Run passed away May 15, 2011 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Jennings was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church where she had served on the benevolence committee and the fellowship committee and was a member of the Union Grove G.L.A.D. group. She worked for several years in the textile industry and loved fishing, traveling, yard selling and cooking for everyone. Her lifelong love was caring for others, spending countless hours caring for those who could not care for themselves with love and compassion. She was the last surviving child of a family of 13 children and was the granddaughter of one of the last Methodist circuit riding preachers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Services for Mrs. Jennings, were held May 18 at Union Grove United Methodist Church in Rock Run with the Rev. Barbara Mosley, the Rev. Tommy Ledbetter and the Rev. Michael Burgess officiating. Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory of Piedmont in charge. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. Survivors include her husband; Willard Jennings, Rock Run, children; Brian Jennings (Donna), Rock Run, Diane Hawkins, Piedmont, four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
