Lady Warriors gain redemption against Alabama Christian

MONTGOMERY – Cherokee County exacted revenge Friday against Alabama Christian from a one-run loss the Lady Eagles handed them a day earlier. The Lady Warriors eliminated Alabama Christian with a 5-2 victory.
The Lady Warriors jumped on Alabama Christian early, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Alabama Christian (44-12) tied the game at two on a 2-run homer by Liz Taylor.
Things didn’t stay that way for long, as Cherokee County countered with two runs in the third and another in the fourth for the final.
Darbie Rosser and Candace Blanchard were both 2-for-4. Rosser had two RBI, while Blanchard scored a run and stole a base. Kaitlyn Griffith and Audra Bradley were also 2-for-4, with Bradley scoring a run.
Millsaps added a hit and a RBI. Lauren Millsaps had a hit and scored a run. Cayla Machleit and Tori Davis both contributed a hit and scored a run.
Lauren Millsaps picked up the win in the circle. She went all seven innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

MONTGOMERY – Lauren Millsaps not only helped herself in the circle, but she also had a perfect game at the plate to lead Cherokee County to a 15-6 victory against defending 4A champion and fifth-ranked Ardmore (37-12-3).
She went 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI. Madison Millsaps went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, scored four runs and drove in two more runs.
Kaitlyn Griffith was 2for-4 with a 3-run homer in the fourth. She scored four runs and had three RBI. Tori Davis went 3-
for-4 with a solo home run in the fifth. She scored two runs and had two RBI.
Molly Brewer went 3for-5 with a run and two RBI. Candace Blanchard and Cayla Machleit both had a pair of hits and a RBI. Audra Bradley was 2-for-4 with a run.
Lauren Millsaps picked up the win after tossing six innings. She gave up six hits with a walk and three strikeouts, but didn’t surrender a run.
Davis came in for relief with the Lady Warriors up 10-0 in the fifth before Lauren Millsaps reentered to close out the game.
