Lady War­riors gain re­demp­tion against Alabama Chris­tian

MONT­GOMERY – Chero­kee County ex­acted re­venge Fri­day against Alabama Chris­tian from a one-run loss the Lady Ea­gles handed them a day ear­lier. The Lady War­riors elim­i­nated Alabama Chris­tian with a 5-2 vic­tory.

The Lady War­riors jumped on Alabama Chris­tian early, tak­ing a 2-0 lead in the top of the sec­ond. Alabama Chris­tian (44-12) tied the game at two on a 2-run homer by Liz Tay­lor.

Things didn’t stay that way for long, as Chero­kee County coun­tered with two runs in the third and an­other in the fourth for the fi­nal.

Dar­bie Rosser and Can­dace Blan­chard were both 2-for-4. Rosser had two RBI, while Blan­chard scored a run and stole a base. Kait­lyn Grif­fith and Au­dra Bradley were also 2-for-4, with Bradley scor­ing a run.

Madi­son

Mill­saps added a hit and a RBI. Lau­ren Mill­saps had a hit and scored a run. Cayla Mach­leit and Tori Davis both con­trib­uted a hit and scored a run.

Lau­ren Mill­saps picked up the win in the cir­cle. She went all seven in­nings, giv­ing up two earned runs on three hits with four walks and six strike­outs.

Chero­kee County Ard­more 6

MONT­GOMERY – Lau­ren Mill­saps not only helped her­self in the cir­cle, but she also had a per­fect game at the plate to lead Chero­kee County to a 15-6 vic­tory against de­fend­ing 4A cham­pion and fifth-ranked Ard­more (37-12-3).

She went 5-for-5 with two dou­bles, two runs and three RBI. Madi­son Mill­saps went 4-for-5 with a pair of dou­bles, scored four runs and drove in two more runs.

Kait­lyn Grif­fith was 2for-4 with a 3-run homer in the fourth. She scored four runs and had three RBI. Tori Davis went 3-

for-4 with a solo home run in the fifth. She scored two runs and had two RBI.

Molly Brewer went 3for-5 with a run and two RBI. Can­dace Blan­chard and Cayla Mach­leit both had a pair of hits and a RBI. Au­dra Bradley was 2-for-4 with a run.

Lau­ren Mill­saps picked up the win af­ter toss­ing six in­nings. She gave up six hits with a walk and three strike­outs, but didn’t sur­ren­der a run.

Davis came in for re­lief with the Lady War­riors up 10-0 in the fifth be­fore Lau­ren Mill­saps reen­tered to close out the game.
