Collinsville boys outlast Coosa Christian in OT
CENTRE – Austin Posey posted 15 points to lead Collinsville to a 58-53 victory in overtime in the Cherokee Basketball Invitational on Friday at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena.
Kaleb Jones and Tyler Blakelly both contributed nine points for the Panthers (6-4). Keaton Kilgro finished with eight points.
Caden Davidson led the Conquerors (8-3) with a game-high 24 points. James Mills added 10 points and Caleb Garrett finished with eight points.
Collinsville built a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Coosa tied the game at 24 at halftime. Collinsville held a slim 34-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Coosa once again proved tough for the Panthers to shake as the game was deadlocked at 45 at the end of regulation.
The Panthers went on a 13-8 run in the extra session for the final.
Chattooga, Ga. 74, Cedar Bluff 52
CENTRE – Dee McCutchins led three Chattooga Indians in double figures in a 74-52 victory in the Cherokee Basketball Invitational on Friday at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena.
McCutchins finished with a gamehigh 18 points as the Indians improved to 8-1 on the season. Isaiah Foster added 15 points and Jay Broome contributed 10 points. Jay Shropshire and Kam Martin finished with nine and eight points respectively.
Michael Croft led Cedar Bluff (3-2) with 17 points, including three treys. Rashawn Woods added nine points. Isiaha Jones contributed eight points and DeAndre Autry finished with seven points.
The two teams battled to a 14-all tie at the end of the first quarter, but the Indians went on a 17-5 run in the second to take a 31-19 lead at the break. Chattooga increased its lead to 51-33 at the end of three quarters.
