Martha’s Falls Trail at Little River Canyon reopens after fire
Little River Canyon National Preserve is reopening the Martha’s Falls Trail after the large fire.
You must stay on the established trails.
Visitors are not permitted to enter the burned areas off trails for their own safety.
The interiors of the burned areas contain numerous hidden stump holes, and snags that may fall at any time.
Some of the stump holes may have hot coals and stepping into them would cause severe burns with possible broken bones.
Some fire personnel are still at the park. Do not interfere with their operations.
Stay away from fire personnel activities for your own safety.
The park is still assessing the effects of the fire on park resources.
Baseline resources data is sparse in the area affected.
For more information, call Larry Beane at 256 845- 9605 extension 205. You can follow our updates and find park pictures on Facebook at “lirinps.”
Park Superintendent Steve Black invites the public to come out and enjoy the park.
The CCERA ( Retired Teachers) will hold their meeting today at Lanny’s at 11 a.m.
There will be a brief business meeting but the main emphasis will be on honoring our veterans for their service to our great country. A special speaker and special patriotic music will highlight the program!
Everyone is invited to come and bring a fellow retiree.
