Coun­cil­man Farmer ap­proved as Mayor Pro Tem

The Sand Rock Town Coun­cil met recently for their De­cem­ber meet­ing at the town hall meet­ing room. Mayor Ricky Mackey called the meet­ing to or­der and Coun­cil­man Ge­orge Bud Mackey opened the meet­ing with prayer.

The min­utes of the last meet­ings were read and the bud­get re­port with both be­ing ap­proved.

In the road depart­ment re­port, the State DOT is work­ing on bids to re­pair County Road 48.

In the park depart­ment a set of mon­key bars are go­ing to be re­moved. Also the coun­cil is go­ing to in­spect an adult/ child swing that has been do­nated to see if it will work in the park.

In the build­ing and grounds Depart­ment, the shrubs have been re­moved around the town hall build­ing. The Sand Rock High School FFA is go­ing to plant new shrubs in the com­ing weeks.

The coun­cil is con­sid­er­ing putting a bench near the front of the build­ing. The coun­cil ap­proved Coun­cil­man Gene Farmer as Mayor Pro Tem for the coun­cil.

In new busi­ness the coun­cil ap­proved to pay $300 to the Cham­ber of Com­merce for spon­sor­ship. Mayor Ricky Mackey, Coun­cil­men Ge­orge Bud Mackey and Coun­cil­man Gene Farmer are go­ing to check out the cau­tion lights that are not work­ing.

The coun­cil wished every­one a Merry Christ­mas and pros­per­ous New Year.
