Councilman Farmer approved as Mayor Pro Tem

The Sand Rock Town Council met recently for their December meeting at the town hall meeting room. Mayor Ricky Mackey called the meeting to order and Councilman George Bud Mackey opened the meeting with prayer.
The minutes of the last meetings were read and the budget report with both being approved.
In the road department report, the State DOT is working on bids to repair County Road 48.
In the park department a set of monkey bars are going to be removed. Also the council is going to inspect an adult/ child swing that has been donated to see if it will work in the park.
In the building and grounds Department, the shrubs have been removed around the town hall building. The Sand Rock High School FFA is going to plant new shrubs in the coming weeks.
The council is considering putting a bench near the front of the building. The council approved Councilman Gene Farmer as Mayor Pro Tem for the council.
In new business the council approved to pay $300 to the Chamber of Commerce for sponsorship. Mayor Ricky Mackey, Councilmen George Bud Mackey and Councilman Gene Farmer are going to check out the caution lights that are not working.
The council wished everyone a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
