TITLE
Baine’s blast gave the Lady Panthers a 3-2 lead, which they extended to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a pair of doubles by pitcher Autumn Barkley and McKinney.
But the Lady Red Devils didn’t lie down.
They scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth, followed by a home run to right by Kleismit.
Kleismit led Fyffe at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and her home run with three RBIs.
After giving up an infield single to third baseman Tyra Thomas, Barkley recovered to retire pitcher Harley Godwin on a ground out to short for the final out in the time-limited game.
“They had a chance there at the end,” Coker said. “They get a couple of runs and get another one on base. That’s why you have to play the whole time. We were against a quality pitcher. She’s really good. She moves the ball and has good velocity on it.
“I knew this game would be a low-scor-
ing game. It usually is when we play them, and that’s the way it turned out to be.”
Barkley earned the win in the circle after surrendering four runs on six hits with no walks and a strikeout. Godwin was the tough-luck loser, giving up five runs on five hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts.
McKinney led the Lady Panthers at the plate by going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Baine also walked to go along with her homer. Right fielder and leadoff batter Mary Patton had a single, a walk and a run scored.
