Ad­vance no­tice! The 2017 Gar­den walk spon­sored by the Chero­kee Rose Gar­den has been sched­uled for Satur­day, May 20 — from 1-4 p.m. Two lo­ca­tions in Cen­tre and three in Sand Rock will be open to the pub­lic. Tick­ets are $10 and may be pur­chased at Patti Ford Photography (near the in­ter­sec­tion of Cedar Bluff Road and Iris Drive in Cen­tre). Event pro­ceeds will help the club support nu­mer­ous beau­ti­fi­ca­tion projects in the Land of Chero­kee and the state gar­den clubs’ hor­ti­cul­ture schol­ar­ships at Auburn Univer­sity.

Ad­di­tional de­tails and driv­ing di­rec­tions to the homes/ gar­dens will be printed the week of the Walk.

CON­GRAT­U­LA­TIONS! to the de­bate team at Cen­tre Mid­dle School. The CMS De­bate War­riors placed first in ev­ery de­bate cat­e­gory in the in­au­gu­ral sea­son of the North­east Alabama De­bate and Pub­lic Speak­ing League. (In pre­vi­ous years, the team has trav­eled to Sam­ford Univer­sity for com­pe­ti­tions. Join­ing the new league at JSU has saved trans­porta­tion time and funds).

The CMS team’s 2016-17 record is 8-0! The De­bate War­riors earned first place for num­ber of wins, win per­cent­age, and in­di­vid­ual de­bate per­for­mance. Four CMSers were in the fi­nal com­pe­ti­tion.
