Sand Rock soft­ball splits with Fyffe, Pied­mont

SAND ROCK — The Sand Rock Lady Wild­cats split a home soft­ball dou­ble­header on Thurs­day. The Lady Wild­cats fell to Fyffe 7-2, then de­feated Pied­mont 11-4 to im­prove to 19-17 on the sea­son.

In the loss to Fyffe, Ma­gen Rich home­red and drove in the only two Lady Wild­cats runs. Brylie St. Clair added a hit and scored a run. Lind­sey Cham­bers fin­ished with a hit.

Rich suf­fered the loss in the cir­cle. She gave up three earned runs on five hits with two walks and a strike­out.

In the win over Pied­mont, the Lady Wild­cats scored eight runs in the first in­ning to cruise to the win. St. Clair had a pair of hits, in­clud­ing a triple, and scored two runs. Cara Parker also had two hits, two runs and a RBI. Paige Nor­ris and Ha­ley Grace Lisen­bee both con­trib­uted two hits, a run and a RBI.

Erin Lan­g­ley added a hit, two runs and three RBIs. Maggie Hester con­trib­uted a hit, a run and a RBI. Rich and Cham­bers both had a hit and drove in a run. Au­drey Richard­son fin­ished with a hit and scored a run.

Rich picked up the win. She gave up just one earned run on nine hits with six walks and five strike­outs.
