Cedar Bluff fin­ishes run­ner up in Class 1A, Area 14 tour­na­ment

SKY­LINE — Cedar Bluff clinched a berth in North Softball Re­gional in Huntsville Wed­nes­day. The Lady Tigers fin­ished run­ner-up to Sky­line in the class 1A, Area 14 tour­na­ment at Sky­line.

Sev­enth-ranked Cedar Bluff (16-22) be­gan the day with a 16-2 vic­tory over Woodville in five in­nings in an elim­i­na­tion game, then dropped a 19-4 de­ci­sion in five in­nings to third-ranked Sky­line in the cham­pi­onship game.

In the win over Woodville, Jor­dyn Walker and Emily Goss both con­nected on three hits. They both had a triple and scored three runs apiece. Goss also drove in a pair of runs.

Kyla O’Neal added a pair of hits, in­clud­ing a dou­ble, with a walk, three runs and three RBIs. Kiana Dob­bins de­liv­ered two hits, a run and two RBIs. Han­nah Cosby also had a pair of hits, a run and a RBI. Mati­son Bed­well con­trib­uted a hit, a walk and two runs. Alexis Smith came away with a hit, a run and two RBIs. Madi­son Allen had a hit, a run and a RBI. Miken­zie Gos­sett fin­ished with a hit and scored a run.

Walker picked up the win in the cir­cle. She tossed all five in­nings, giving up two earned runs on four hits with a walk and six strike­outs.

In the loss to Sky­line, Allen led the charge for the Lady Tigers with three hits. Bed­well dou­bled, scored a run and had three RBIs. Walker con­trib­uted a pair of hits and a RBI. Dob­bins had a hit, a walk and a run. Cosby con­trib­uted a hit and scored a run. Goss fin­ished with a hit. Walker suf­fered the loss.

Both teams will play in Huntsville on Fri­day at 1:30 p.m. a hit and a RBI. Madi­son Allen scored two runs and had a RBI. Emily Goss scored a run and had a RBI.

Walker picked up the win in the cir­cle, sur­ren­der­ing just one earned run on two hits with no walks and eight strike­outs.

Malaya Shire­man and Made­lyn Mitchell had the lone hits for Gaylesville. Shire­man’s hit was a triple. She also had a RBI. Adri­ana Va­len­cia scored a run. Shire­man suf­fered the loss.
