Warriors fin­ish fourth

ONEONTA — The Chero­kee County Warriors bat­tled 30 mile per hour wind gusts to fin­ish fourth in the Class 4A, Sec­tion 3 golf tour­na­ment at Lime­stone Springs Golf Course in Oneonta on May 1. The fin­ish al­lows the Warriors to ad­vance to sub- state at Val­ley Hill Coun­try Club in Huntsville on May 8.

Paul Wynn also ad­vanced to the sub-state level play­ing as an in­di­vid­ual. kee County Coun­try Club on April 29.

Bubba Smith fin­ished sec­ond at 61, fol­lowed by Robin Wood at 62.

Ed­die Robert­son won the sec­ond flight.

He won the play­off hole on No. 12 against Adam Weaver and T.J. McGatha. All three shot 67.

J.H. Con­nell claimed the Third Flight af­ter shoot­ing 71. De­wayne Spray­berry also shot 71 for sec­ond, and Larry Reynolds was third at 72.

Larry Bar­ber won the fourth flight on a play­off hole against De­wayne “Tug­boat” Rainey. Both shot 74. Ricky Young was third at 76.

There were 40 en­tries in the tour­na­ment, which was the most ever.
