Class 4A Girls and Boys
GULF SHORES — Cherokee County High School’s track and field athletes finished in the top 20 in several events at the Class 4A state track and field meet in Gulf Shores over the weekend.
The top finish was the Lady Warriors’ 4x100 meter relay team. They finished third with a time of 51.39 seconds.
Jhayda Whiteside came in fourth in the 100 meter dash (12.97) and eighth in the 200 meter dash (28.30). Grace Locklear took ninth in the discus (84’7”).
Kaitlyn Coheley came in 11th in the shot put (29’9”). The Lady Warrior 4x400 meter relay team finished 11th (4:26.24).
Erin McCord finished 12th in two events: the 800 meter run (2:30.34) and the 1600 meter run (5:49.18). She was also 19th in the high jump (4’2”). Sidney Johnson came in 12th in the 400 meter dash (1:02.55), followed by Laney Kate Johnson in 15th (1:03.27).
The Lady Warrior 4x800 meter relay team took 15th with a time of 11:18.38. Destinee Scott finished 18th in the shot put (27’7 ½”).
As a team, the Lady Warriors earned 12 total points and finished 18th overall.
Catholic of Montgomery won the girls 4A team standings with 80 points, followed by Randolph (63) and LAMP (57).
In the boys’ events, the Warriors’ Ivory Moore finished 14th in the long jump (19’5 ¾”).
