Class 4A Girls and Boys

GULF SHORES — Chero­kee County High School’s track and field ath­letes fin­ished in the top 20 in sev­eral events at the Class 4A state track and field meet in Gulf Shores over the week­end.

The top fin­ish was the Lady Warriors’ 4x100 me­ter re­lay team. They fin­ished third with a time of 51.39 sec­onds.

Jhayda Whiteside came in fourth in the 100 me­ter dash (12.97) and eighth in the 200 me­ter dash (28.30). Grace Lock­lear took ninth in the dis­cus (84’7”).

Kait­lyn Co­he­ley came in 11th in the shot put (29’9”). The Lady War­rior 4x400 me­ter re­lay team fin­ished 11th (4:26.24).

Erin McCord fin­ished 12th in two events: the 800 me­ter run (2:30.34) and the 1600 me­ter run (5:49.18). She was also 19th in the high jump (4’2”). Sid­ney John­son came in 12th in the 400 me­ter dash (1:02.55), fol­lowed by Laney Kate John­son in 15th (1:03.27).

The Lady War­rior 4x800 me­ter re­lay team took 15th with a time of 11:18.38. Desti­nee Scott fin­ished 18th in the shot put (27’7 ½”).

As a team, the Lady Warriors earned 12 to­tal points and fin­ished 18th over­all.

Catholic of Mont­gomery won the girls 4A team stand­ings with 80 points, fol­lowed by Ran­dolph (63) and LAMP (57).

In the boys’ events, the Warriors’ Ivory Moore fin­ished 14th in the long jump (19’5 ¾”).
