2nd woman charged in kid­nap, tor­ture

A se­cond woman has been charged with kid­nap­ping and tor­tur­ing a woman last month in El­gin. Ruby Gomez, 20, was ar­rested Fri­day and charged with home in­va­sion, ag­gra­vated kid­nap­ping, in­flict­ing great bod­ily harm, ag­gra­vated bat­tery with a caus­tic sub­stance and ag­gra­vated bat­tery in­volv­ing tor­ture, ac­cord­ing to the El­gin po­lice.

Po­lice re­sponded to a call of a woman be­ing held against her will early Feb. 27 in the 300 block of Ray­mond Street and found an in­jured 19-year-old woman.

The woman, who was treated at a hos­pi­tal, told the po­lice she had been in a res­i­dence in the 500 block of Levine Court with her ex-boyfriend when four fe­males en­tered the home and, with the help of her ex-boyfriend, forced her into a car and started beat­ing her, then drove her to the 300 block of Ray­mond Street, where they con­tin­ued to beat her and hold her against her will. —Luke Wilusz
