Cy­clists robbed on The 606/Bloom­ing­dale Trail

Three rob­beries of bi­cy­clists along a por­tion of The 606/ Bloom­ing­dale Trail in the Northwest Side in re­cent weeks have prompted a com­mu­nity alert from the po­lice.

The rob­beries all oc­curred at night. Each time, some­one rid­ing a bike on the pop­u­lar cy­cling and walk­ing trail was tack­led or placed into a head­lock by two to four teenagers or young men who robbed them and ran off, ac­cord­ing to the po­lice.

The rob­beries hap­pened around 11:30 p.m. Feb 19 at 3200W. Bloom­ing­dale, around 11:15 p.m. Tues­day at 2542W. Bloom­ing­dale and around 10:30 p.m. Thurs­day at 2558W. Bloom­ing­dale, all in Lo­gan Square, the po­lice said. In the last case, one of the sus­pects had a gun, and the vic­tim strug­gled with him over the gun.
