Fashion It girl OLIVIA PALERMO talks her new line and the wardrobe staples every woman should have

Chicago Sun-Times - - COVER STORY - By Chiara Milioulis

Olivia Palermo is the ultimate multi-hyphenate: The 30-year-old New Yorker is a model (and, when she’s not in front of the camera, a fashion show front-row staple); shoe, accessory and beauty product designer; social media superstar (she has 3.2 million Instagram followers); former reality star; head of lifestyle website Olivia; and a seasoned regular on the New York Post’s best-dressed list. The Connecticut-born socialite — who grew up shadowing her aunt, a former auctioneer at the Doyle auction house in New York City, and her mother, an antique jewelry collector— is also one half of fashion’s favorite It couple with her German model husband, Johannes Huebl.

Last month, Palermo added a new modifier to her fashion repertoire— that of ready-to-wear designer— when she launched an exclusive collection for Nordstrom’s private label, Chelsea28. The 32-piece line exudes Palermo’s unique taste, mixing classic American tailoring, tinged with a ’70s vibe, with Parisian simplicity in floral culottes, burgundy suede fringe minidresses, pinstripe twin sets and crisp Oxford button-downs.

Even Palermo’s conversations are studded with style. Here, we’ve culled nine fashion pointers from our chat with the sartorial icon.
