Ugly ar­rest for Rams’ Ma­son

Los An­ge­les Rams run­ning back Tre Ma­son was sub­dued with a stun gun twice when he re­fused to co­op­er­ate with of­fi­cers who were ar­rest­ing him for reck­less driv­ing and mar­i­juana pos­ses­sion, po­lice in Hol­ly­wood, Florida, said Sun­day.

Ma­son re­fused or­ders to get out of his car Satur­day af­ter­noon af­ter he was pulled over for go­ing more than twice the speed limit in a 35 mph zone along a beach­side road, ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port. Ma­son re­fused to give the pa­trol of­fi­cer his name or pro­vide ID, and the of­fi­cer smelled mar­i­juana in the car.

‘‘ I warned the de­fen­dant if he did not iden­tify him­self he would be sub­ject to ar­rest, and he smirked as he was mak­ing eye con­tact,’’ of­fi­cer Lester Cochenour wrote in his re­port.

When Cochenour and two ad­di­tional of­fi­cers were un­able to re­move him from the car, Ma­son was stunned on his torso with a Taser. He was stunned again out­side the ve­hi­cle in his pelvis when he re­fused to put his hands be­hind his back as or­dered, the re­port said.

Ma­son was then taken to a hos­pi­tal for med­i­cal clear­ance. While he was there, bond was posted for him. He’s charged with re­sist­ing ar­rest with­out vi­o­lence, reck­less driv­ing, mar­i­juana pos­ses­sion and fail­ure to reg­is­ter a ve­hi­cle.

Ran­dle ar­rested again

For­mer Dal­las Cow­boys run­ning back Joseph Ran­dle, 24, has been ar­rested in his home­town of Wi­chita, Kansas, for fail­ure to ap­pear in court — his sixth ar­rest in the last 17 months. Ran­dle was charged Feb. 22 with four counts of ag­gra­vated bat­tery and other charges af­ter po­lice say he backed his car into three peo­ple the pre­vi­ous day while leav­ing a party.

The Cow­boys re­leased Ran­dle last year af­ter re­peated run- ins with the law.

Wil­liams in, out of Mi­ami

Four- time Pro Bowl de­fen­sive end Mario Wil­liams, re­leased by the Buf­falo Bills last Tues­day, has com­pleted a two- day free agent visit with the Mi­ami Dol­phins with­out reach­ing a deal.
