Detainee escapes

Authorities were searching for a woman who escaped from the Markham courthouse Tuesdaymorning.

Vivian McGee, 31, was handcuffed to a railing in an attorney visiting room at the courthouse at 16501 Kedzie Ave., according to Cara Smith, spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff’s office. McGee was arrested for trying to shoplift at a Walgreens, Smith said.
