Tra­cyAbrams scored 18 points, and Illi­nois used a 15- 2 burst dur­ing a five- minute span of the sec­ond half to turn a one- point deficit into a com­fort­able lead on its way to a 71- 56 vic­tory Mon­day against Boise State in the sec­ond round of the Na­tional In­vi­ta­tion Tour­na­ment in Cham­paign.

Mal­colm Hill added 13 points, Leron Black 12 points and 10 re­bounds and Mav­er­ick Mor­gan 10 points for the Illini ( 20- 14). Chan­dlerHutchi­son led the Bron­cos ( 20- 12) with 17 points.

Tay­lor scored 17 of his 22 points in the sec­ond half, in­clud­ing the ty­ing and go- ahead free throws with 1.3 sec­onds left, to lift Cen­tral Florida ( 23- 11) to a 63- 62 vic­tory against Illi­nois State ( 28- 7) in the sec­ond round of the Na­tional In­vi­ta­tion Tour­na­ment in Nor­mal, Illi­nois.

Deon­taeHawkins scored 15 points to lead the Red­birds, whose 22- game home win­ning streak ended.

† Tai Odi­ase led five play­ers in dou­ble fig­ures with 23 points, and host UIC ( 17- 18) ad­vanced to the semi­fi­nals of the Col­lege Bas­ket­ball In­vi­ta­tional with an 80- 71 vic­tory against Ge­orgeWash­ing­ton ( 20- 14).
