AFL- CIO PRESIDENT HAS HARSH WORDS ABOUT WHITE HOUSE
AFL- CIO President Richard Trumka said Wednesday that it has been difficult to work with the White House because the faction that agrees with union leaders on trade “turned out to be racist” while the other faction is “Wall Streeters” who care little about working people.
Trumka, speaking at a newsmaker breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor, referred to the faction led by former chief strategist Steve Bannon when he talked about “racist” advisers who agree with unions that trade deals are hurting workers.
Bannon and counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka left the White House this month amid criticism of what some said was their support of white nationalist groups. Both returned to Breitbart News.
