LeBron, Lakers put it on paper

It’s official. LeBron is a Laker. The team announced the signing of LeBron James as a free agent Monday night, confirming the seismic shift created by the four- time NBA MVP’s decision to leave Cleveland for the 16- time champions on theWest Coast.

James’ representa­tives at Klutch Sports Group tweeted a photo of James signing his contract with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka. The agency had already announced last week that James had agreed to a fouryear deal worth $ 153.3 million.

The Lakers have missed the playoffs for a franchise- record five consecutiv­e seasons, while James has played in the last eight NBAFinals with the Heat and the Cavaliers, winning three titles.

† ESPN reported Monday night that forward Luc Mbah a Moute agreed to a one- year, $ 4.3 million deal to return to the Clippers after a year with the Rockets. ESPN also reported the Rockets will escalate efforts to acquire Carmelo Anthony once he becomes available after a trade and buyout with the Thunder.

† The Pelicans signed freeagent guard Elfrid Payton and re- signed guard Ian Clark, each on a one- year contract.

NFL Indictment for Cowboys CB

Cowboys cornerback Marquez White was indicted on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for pulling a handgun in what he described as a road- rage incident with a driver who had followed him in suburban Dallas last October, when he was a rookie on the practice squad.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL Sarkisian loses suit vs. USC

Former USC coach Steve Sarkisian has lost a $ 30 million lawsuit claiming he was improperly fired instead of being allowed to seek treatment for alcoholism. An arbitrator ruled he had kept his condition from the school before he was fired in October 2015 for slurring his words and swearing during a preseason pep rally.
