Silver says virus could stop play again
NBA commissioner Adam Silver remains “pretty confident” about the league’s plan to safely resume play at the end of July in Orlando, Florida, but admits that a spread of the coronavirus in the NBA community could bring the league to a halt again.
“We are testing daily,” Silver said during an appearance on TIME 100 Talks. “We haven’t put a precise number on it, but if we were to see a large number of cases and see spread in our community, that would of course be a cause to stop, as well.”
The Nuggets closed their facilities after two members of the team’s traveling party tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend. A third tested positive this week. All three are asymptomatic.
Three Pelicans players tested positive and will be in self-isolation until testing shows they can return to team activities without infecting others.
