Nicklaus says he, wife had virus; Rahm No. 1
Tournament host Jack Nicklaus revealed during the CBS telecast of the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio, that he and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus at the onset of the pandemic. Both are 80.
Nicklaus said his wife had no COVID-19 symptoms, while he had a sore throat and a cough. He said they were at their home in Florida from March 13 ‘‘until we were done with it’’ about April 20.
Jon Rahm won the tournament to take over the No. 1 ranking in the world. He closed with a 3-overpar 75 but still earned a three-stroke victory over Ryan Palmer with a score of 9-under 279. Tiger Woods shot a 4-over 76 and finished tied for 40th.
