All Bears draftees have deals

The Bears fi­nal­ized con­tracts with all seven of their 2020 draft picks Tues­day, which also was the day rook­ies were re­quired to re­port to Halas Hall to be­gin train­ing camp.

Cor­ner­back Jay­lon John­son, a sec­on­dround pick from Utah, was the first to an­nounce his sign­ing, and the Bears had the rest of their class se­cured by midafter­noon.

The other draftees were Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet (sec­ond round), UTEP out­side line­backer Tre­vis Gip­son (fifth), Georgia South­ern cor­ner­back Kin­dle Vil­dor (fifth), Tu­lane re­ceiver Dar­nell Mooney (fifth), Colorado of­fen­sive line­man Ar­ling­ton Ham­bright (sev­enth) and Ten­nessee State of­fen­sive line­man Lachavi­ous Sim­mons (sev­enth).

♦ Mul­ti­ple out­lets re­ported the NFL Play­ers As­so­ci­a­tion agreed to the NFL’s pro­posal to drop all pre­sea­son games in 2020 be­cause of the coro­n­avirus pan­demic.

♦ The NFLPA said 95 play­ers are known to have tested pos­i­tive for the coro­n­avirus, up from 72 in its last re­port July 10.

♦ Three-time Pro Bowl de­fen­sive end Michael Ben­nett re­tired af­ter 11 sea­sons.
