Brewers game, two others PPD
The Brewers’ game against the Reds on Wednesday night at Miller Park was postponed in protest of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.
Also, the Mariners did not play their game against the host Padres after Seattle players agreed to postpone it. In addition, the Dodgers and host Giants called off their game.
“Given the pain in the communities of Wisconsin and beyond following the shooting of Jacob Blake, we respect the decisions of a number of players not to play tonight,” MLB said in a statement. “Major League Baseball remains united for change in our society and we will be allies in the fight to end racism and injustice.”
The WNBA postponed its three games (Washington-Atlanta, Minnesota-Los Angeles and ConnecticutPhoenix) to protest the shooting.
The MLS had five of its six matches called off (Miami-Atlanta, Dallas-Colorado, Real Salt LakeLAFC, San Jose-Portland, LA Galaxy-Seattle) as players protested the shooting.
Naomi Osaka will not play in the Western & Southern Open semifinal match in New York in a call for racial justice. The whole tournament was put on hold for a day.
