I had to chuckle over all the hubbub regarding U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s excursion to Cancun, Mexico. Somehow I don’t believe his presence in Texas would help to alleviate the power and natural gas issues.

We here in Illinois know better. Imagine our two esteemed U.S. senators attempting to coordinate snow removal. We would be better off waiting for June.

Speaking of incompetent politicians, why would anyone expect the vaccine program in this state to be any different than it is? The unemployment system is still a mess. The secretary of state’s office is still having a hard time issuing new driver’s licenses. Firearm owner identification cards are several months out, both for renewal and new applications.

Our governor lamented after his “unfair” tax failed the sniff test that taxes will go up and services will be drastically cut. Then in his State of the State address, he announced no tax increase, no major service cuts, and lo and behold, no public union concessions. There was nothing addressing pension debt.

Then we have our state lawmakers passing a police reform bill and teacher reform bills on what and how to teach. All that energy wasted while Chicago crime rises and the Chicago Teachers Union refuses to teach children in classrooms.
