It’s Time for a Change

Clean Eating - - EDITOR'S LETTER -

After a summer of cookouts, frozen treats and lazy days on the beach, it’s likely your body can use a hard reset – I know mine can. Over the course of the summer, I ate clean – and then not-so-clean – in spontaneous spurts. I exercised… and then didn’t exercise, with no real consistency. I didn’t put unnecessary pressure on myself, though; I needed a break from strict routine. But it’s definitely time to reignite my motivation and get inspired to crank health back up to its full potential. And what better way to do so than with our healthiest issue of the year, The Superfoods Issue.

Start by adding the most potent superfoods to your daily diet with “The 10 Healthiest Foods of the Year” on page 40. It’s full of eye-opening, science-backed info. I knew matcha was a nutrition heavyweight but was surprised to learn to what degree. I also fell in love with powerful and exotic dragon fruit while on set shooting this gorgeous feature. On page 68, we address our readers’ number one health concern: gut health. So many facets of health can be traced back to the gut, so to support this all-important area, not only do we have the easiest DIY ferments we’ve ever created, but Executive Editor Andrea Gourgy also went into the lab with the most common probiotic foods to discover which one packs the biggest probiotic punch… I think you’ll be surprised at the results. Find our “Ultimate Fermentation Championship” (yep, the UFC for nutrition nerds) on page 76.

Knowing that so many people crave an energizing reboot in early fall, we decided we’d go big and host our very first guided health challenge, GO CLEAN 45 – a 6-week journey to health and happiness led by two acclaimed industry experts, award-winning registered dietitian Kate Geagan and lifestyle coach and happiness expert Gillian Mandich. Both coaches have been working diligently to bring you an inspirational and educational challenge that will keep you engaged, motivated and very likely to succeed. Imagine a 45-day challenge led by two industry pros guiding you step-by-step for 6 transformative weeks of cooking classes, energizing meal plans, daily movement and mindfulness. The challenge kicks off October 10, and each week you’ll receive a new meal plan, shopping list, an exercise routine and daily tips on eating clean and green and how to make small, incremental changes that will become daily habits to shape your best health. We’ll also have a private Facebook page for participants to share information, support and milestones, and as a bonus, both experts will field questions and share their support along the way. Six weeks is the perfect amount of time to solidify new habits and observe some pretty significant changes, so we’ll be featuring the most moving health transformations in the March issue of Clean Eating. It could mean shaking an unhealthy habit, getting in better shape, becoming more positive, increasing your daily energy or losing a few pounds. Whatever success looks like to you, we want to hear all the details of your 45-day transformation. I really can’t think of a better way to finish the year out strong and feel amazing heading into the holiday season and 2018. I really hope you’ll join us. Sign up today at cleaneat
