Ancient ARt

Climbing - - THE APPROACH - — VWall, via Climb

In response to “Watch Moab Monkeys Turn Ancient Art into a Christmas Tree” ( hv6ubtr): This video, and Climbing magazine’s coverage of it, is antithetical to the mission and values of those who love nature and want to see it preserved for years to come. By pandering to the holiday consumer and “Everyone look at me!” attitudes we currently have in our culture (Do more! Buy more! Make yourself seen and heard— anyone who complains is a party pooper and doesn’t love Christmas! Or America!), we bring harm and garbage to our fragile deserts. I would love to see some pieces on Leave No Trace, how to be a good steward of nature, and the value of enjoying nature without posting your trip all over social media. If your only goal is publicity, you have no connection to the real world of climbing.
