local level

Climbing - - THE APPROACH -

In the last two years, we have seen more women popping up on social media, and more films following the success of female professional athletes, which is great. But what I haven’t seen is anyone encouraging women to join the industry on a local level. How many female setters are there? How many personal trainers? You guessed it: not a lot. Will it ever be the case that women have a space within the climbing community that they don’t have to fight to protect—or even to gain in the first place? Will I ever be rewarded for following my passion, or will the response always be, “Good on ya’ for trying to keep up with the boys!”?
