The tor­pedo- shaped Gripedo might just be the best way for us puny clim­bers to fit in amidst all the tank- top bros in the weight room. This grip trainer slips onto the end of a bar­bell and of­fers mul­ti­ple grips, let­ting you twist and lift to build pure grip strength, as well as do sled pulls, static weight holds, etc. I found it most use­ful for train­ing high- re­sis­tance fore­arm ex­ten­sion and flex­ion with one hand in the open po­si­tion ( with the ball grip), while the other hand re­mained hor­i­zon­tal. I’d rec­om­mend train­ing with it 2– 3 times a week as an ad­junct to your climb­ing, fo­cus­ing on a high- weight/ lowrep cy­cles ( 2– 4 rounds, 1– 2 ef­forts per round).
