Basil Eu­gene Dikovsky, age 91, of Shel­ton en­tered into rest on Fri­day, June 8, 2018 at the CT VA Health­care Sys­tem with his lov­ing fam­ily by his side. He was the de­voted hus­band of 30 years to Nancy ( Nabors) Dikovsky. Mr. Dikovsky was born in Prague, Czech Repub­lic, son of the late Eu­gene and Nadezda ( Vopichkova) Dikovsky and was a life­long Shel­ton res­i­dent. He proudly served with the U. S. Navy. Mr. Dikovsky re­ceived his Hor­ti­cul­ture Bach­e­lor’s De­gree at UCONN and was known for his gar­dens and Bon­sai Trees. He owned and oper­ated The Dikovsky Poul­try and Egg farm in Shel­ton for many years un­til his re­tire­ment. Mr. Dikovsky was a mem­ber of the Har­mony Grange # 92 and The Amer­i­can Le­gion John H. Collins Post

# 24 in Derby. He is the beloved fa­ther of Laura Smith and her hus­band Ed, Hope VItko and her hus­band Lawrence, Rick Maz­zadra, and Richard Chuma and his wife Kris­ten, step­fa­ther of, Melissa Helmer and Karen Whitely and her hus­band Pa­trick. He is the lov­ing brother of Nina Shev­zov. Mr. Dikovsky is the lov­ing grand­fa­ther of Lawrence Vitko III, Ben­jamin Vitko, Erin Chuma, James Maz­zadra, Daniel Chuma, Lia Maz­zadra, Joseph Maz­zadra, Louis DiPiro, Sage Ed­wards and the late Robert Bom­bardier. He is also sur­vived by sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. The fam­ily would like to thank the doc­tors, nurses and staff on the Hospice Wing at the VA Health­care Sys­tems for their care and com­pas­sion for Mr. Dikovsky. Friends may call on Mon­day from 5: 00 - 7: 00 p. m. at the Riverview Fu­neral Home, 390 River Rd., Shel­ton. On Tues­day, his fu­neral ser­vice will be held at the fu­neral home at 11: 00 a. m. His burial with mil­i­tary hon­ors will fol­low at River­side Ceme­tery.
