Church raffle

St. Mary School is conducting its annual raffle, with prizes including a 2018 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Apple 9.7 iPad or a $ 250 ShopRite gift card. Tickets are $ 5. Tickets are available at St. Mary School, 72 Gulf St., or the Precious Blood parish office, 70 Gulf St., and after most Masses at St. Mary and St. Agnes churches every weekend. Food drive

All locations of Newtown Savings Bank are collecting food donations to benefit local food pantries through Sept. 23 in honor of Hunger Action Month. Donations of nonperisha­ble food and personal hygiene items will be accepted at all 14 branch locations in Newtown, Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Monroe, Oxford, Shelton, Southbury, Trumbull and Woodbury. Food donations, along with a financial contributi­on from the Bank’s foundation, will be delivered to food pantries in each of these towns during the week of Sept. 25.

Milk, cereal drive

Weinstein Chiropract­ic & Wellness Center, 2228 Black Rock Turnpike, Suite 208, Fairfield, has teamed up with Operation Hope to deliver food to needy area children. The center hosts a milk and cereal drive through Sunday, Sept. 30, and requests donations of “shelf stable” milk ( dairy, almond or soy) and boxes of cereal. For informatio­n, call 203- 908- 3857.

Church picnic

Book sales

The Friends of the Seymour Public Library has announced its book sales are postponed until further notice. The town is working on renovation­s on the lower lever of the library where the book sales take place. In addition, the library cannot receive book donations, as there is nowhere to store books until the sales begin again.

Families Anonymous

Families Anonymous is a free, self- help, 12- step support group for adults concerned about the drug, alcohol or related behavioral problems of a relative or friend. The group meets Tuesdays from 7: 30 to 9 p. m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church hall, 283 Bridgeport Ave., Milford. Registrati­on is not required. ‘ History Bites’
