11 injured in 3- car crash
BRIDGEPORT — Firefighters extricated five people after a three- car collision Friday night that landed 11 people in the hospital.
“The Bridgeport Police Department extricated five occupants from one of the vehicles,” a summary from police said on Saturday. “A total of 11 occupants from the three vehicles were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical.”
Shortly before 10: 30 p. m. Friday, first responders rushed to the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, police said.
Photos provided by the department showed one dark- colored vehicle severely damaged. A white car from the scene had front- end damage and another dark- colored vehicle had rear- end damage.
Further details, including the names of those hospitalized and the nature of their injuries, were not available Saturday.
While crews worked to investigate the crash and clear the scene, the intersection was closed to all traffic until around 1: 30 a. m. Saturday.
There is an active investigation into the crash by the Bridgeport Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
