11 in­jured in 3- car crash

BRIDGE­PORT — Fire­fight­ers ex­tri­cated five peo­ple af­ter a three- car col­li­sion Fri­day night that landed 11 peo­ple in the hos­pi­tal.

“The Bridge­port Po­lice Depart­ment ex­tri­cated five oc­cu­pants from one of the ve­hi­cles,” a sum­mary from po­lice said on Sat­ur­day. “A to­tal of 11 oc­cu­pants from the three ve­hi­cles were trans­ported to area hos­pi­tals with in­juries rang­ing from mi­nor to crit­i­cal.”

Shortly be­fore 10: 30 p. m. Fri­day, first re­spon­ders rushed to the in­ter­sec­tion of Rail­road Av­enue and Myr­tle Av­enue, po­lice said.

Pho­tos pro­vided by the depart­ment showed one dark- col­ored ve­hi­cle se­verely dam­aged. A white car from the scene had front- end dam­age and an­other dark- col­ored ve­hi­cle had rear- end dam­age.

Fur­ther de­tails, in­clud­ing the names of those hos­pi­tal­ized and the na­ture of their in­juries, were not avail­able Sat­ur­day.

While crews worked to in­ves­ti­gate the crash and clear the scene, the in­ter­sec­tion was closed to all traf­fic un­til around 1: 30 a. m. Sat­ur­day.
