Pi­ano- pound­ing coun­try hit­maker Phil Vas­sar will per­form his iconic hits at the Ridge­field Play­house on his Crank Up the Sun Tour. Tower of Power is head­ing out on a tour to mark its 50th an­niver­sary that in­cludes a Water­bury stop. The group is tour­ing in sup­port of “Soul Side of Town,” a 14- song al­bum of all new ma­te­rial. Two- time Tony win­ner Bebe Neuwirth will be do­ing a con­cert in Ridge­field. Joni Mitchell has al­ways con­sid­ered her­self a jazz mu­si­cian. A seven- mem­ber group called “Joni Mitchell’s Jazz” is mark­ing the mu­si­cian’s 75th birth­day with a con­cert in New­town. Les­lie Bal­lard, the flautist and vo­cal­ist for the trib­ute group, notes that over the years Mitchell has col­lab­o­rated with such jazz greats as Her­bie Han­cock, Charles Min­gus and Pat Metheny.
