Nel­lie Dobek

Nel­lie Dobek, age 97, of Derby en­tered into rest on Thurs­day Novem­ber 1, 2018 at Bishop Wicke Health and Re­hab Cen­ter. Nel­lie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dobek. She was born in Ma­hanoy City, PA, the daugh­ter of the late Joseph and Frances ( Cu­sack) Wabo. Nel­lie worked as an as­sem­bler for Penn Key­stone for many years be­fore re­tir­ing to take on her most cher­ished ca­reer of watch­ing her two grand­sons. She en­joyed watch­ing TV, es­pe­cially Jeop­ardy, Wheel of For­tune, and Fam­ily Feud. She also liked watch­ing the NY Yan­kees and the NY Giants. But her most im­por­tant pro­gram was the daily Mass at 10 o’clock which she watched with her beloved cat, Jeter. She is sur­vived by her two daugh­ters, Frances Castiello and her hus­band, Tom, of Orange and Jo- Ann Dobek of Derby. She is also sur­vived by her two grand­sons, Thomas Castiello and his wife, Co­lette, from West Haven and Michael Castiello and his wife, Kim, from Mil­ford. Her great- grand­sons, Cole and Owen Castiello, vis­ited her of­ten and al­ways brought a smile to her face. Nel­lie’s sis­ters are He­len Shamus of Bar­nesville, PA, Emily Sala­mon of Carl­stadt, NJ, and Theresa Fraser of Clifton, NJ. She is also sur­vived by her brother- in- law, Stanley Dobek and his wife, Dot­tie, from Woodridge, NJ and sis­ters- in- law, Donna Dobek and Jane Dobek from Derby as well as sev­eral nieces, neph­ews, great nieces and great neph­ews. The fam­ily would like to thank the staff at Grif­fin Hos­pi­tal and Bishop Wicke Health Cen­ter for their sup­port, their lov­ing care, and their com­pas­sion as they treated Miss Nel­lie dur­ing these past few weeks.

Every­one is in­vited to at­tend Nel­lie’s Mass of Chris­tian Burial di­rectly at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave. Derby, on Thurs­day Novem­ber 8 at 11 a. m. Burial will fol­low at St. Michael’s Ceme­tery, Derby. In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial con­tri­bu­tions can be made to St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave. Derby CT 06418. The Ed­ward F.
