Cather­ine “Cathy” Barto Meyer, 59, of Nantucket Is­land, Eas­ton, CT and Be­quia, West Indies peace­fully passed away on Oc­to­ber 21, 2018. She suc­cumbed to her coura­geous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on Septem­ber 6, 1959 to Norma and Robert Barto, her child­hood was spent in CT and NJ. She grad­u­ated Cor­nell Univer­sity where she be­came fam­ily to her Delta Gamma sis­ters and made count­less friends. Cathy was a Pub­lic Re­la­tions ex­ec­u­tive at Saatchi & Saatchi, Earle Palmer Brown, ADT and her own firm, CB Com­mu­ni­ca­tions. She founded the Bat­tered Women’s Pro­gram for ADT and in­tro­duced it na­tion­wide. She was pres­i­dent of the Black Rock and Eas­ton Gar­den Clubs and was a mem­ber of the Be­quia Sail­ing Club. She trav­elled the world ex­ten­sively with friends, her late hus­band, Jack and spent her last years sail­ing and rac­ing the Caribbean and New Eng­land with her com­pan­ion Eric on Zulu. They lived in Nantucket and Be­quia. Cathy’s in­fec­tious laugh­ter, beau­ti­ful smile and abil­ity to live life to its fullest will be her great­est legacy. Cathy loved cats, chick­ens, gar­dens, and many crafts. Cathy was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Clarence John “Jack” Meyer. She is sur­vived by her par­ents, Norma and Bob Barto, her com­pan­ion, Eric John- son, her un­cle, Charles Moss and many oth­ers who adored her and her puppy, “Os­car Meyer John­son.” Ser­vices will be held Satur­day, Novem­ber, 10, 2018, 11 a. m. at First Church of Christ in Red­ding, CT.
