A local man on probation for shooting and stabbing a former girlfriend has been charged with assaulting and choking another woman.
Orlando Neish, 28, of Kossuth Street, was charged Wednesday with third-degree assault, threatening and second-degree strangulation as well as violation of probation.
He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
Police said on Sept. 8, officers were dispatched to Steuben Street where a woman, dressed only in her underwear, was screaming in the street.
Police said the woman told them she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend, Neish, and he had picked up a pole and hit her in the head.
Neish grabbed the woman around the neck and choked her until she nearly blacked out and then ripped her clothes off, police said. The woman managed to get away and fled.
Court records show that Neish was convicted of first-degree assault in January 2011 and sentenced to eight years in prison followed by five years of probation.
Police said in 2010, Neish stabbed his then-girlfriend in the leg and then came back to her home later and shot her in the shoulder.
