Designer Ally Whalen’s creative spirit won’t let her keep her décor the same throughout the year, so she approaches each season as an opportunity to make a fashion statement in her home. In fact, she’s transformed her home at least seven times.

About 10 years ago, Ally, her husband, Scott, and their young daughters Avery and Piper outgrew their small home and moved to a larger, three-bedroom plus bonus-room house in Huntersville, North Carolina, only two miles away from where they had been living. The location of the house was perfect. The tree-lined cul-de-sac would be a safe place for the children to play with the other kids in the neighborhood, it was close to the highway for Ally’s work commute and the beautiful backyard with a creek running through it was very private.

“I love to add glass

elements for an open, airy feel.”

TRAVEL TABLE. Ally found this little accent table in an antiques shop and decoupaged travel postcards on it. A vase with colorful flowers adds another level of height

and color to the vignette.
