Collect old, beautiful biscuit barrels
With their mix of organic farms and hiking trails, the Berkshires have served as inspiration to writers and artists for over 150 years. The rural Berkshires region in the mountains of western Massachusetts provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. The villages and towns, with their museums, theaters and shopping, also offer a cultural paradise. The Berkshires have fall foliage earlier than the rest of Massachusetts, so visit in early October to catch the colors at their peak.
