Set an unforgettable table for Christmas with these holiday-inspired ideas for place settings, centerpieces and other tabletop decor.

Showcase a Living Centerpiece

Transplant a miniature evergreen tree to a galvanized bucket to serve as a snowy centerpiece. Flock the branches with artificial snow spray to give it even more of a frosty feel. Hang glass or crystal icicles of different lengths from the branches as well as clear glass ornaments filled with white glitter. Scatter a few silver snowflakes of various shapes and sizes on the tree and around the center of the table, visually uniting each place setting to the table’s focal point.

Layer Up

For each place setting, start with an icy textured glass charger as a base. Atop the charger, stack a simple white dinner plate, a silver snowflake and a clear glass salad plate. To frost-ify the salad plate’s rim, first wash the plate well to remove any residue. Then, use steel wool to lightly blot bright silver metallic acrylic paint on the underside of the rim. Let dry before sealing the entire plate with a food-safe sealant. Top the array with a white cloth napkin embellished with a silver snowflake charm and cabochon

calling out, “Let It Snow.”

Give Candles Some Height

Place a silver snowflake on top of a white ceramic cupcake pedestal to create an instant candleholder.

ICY SHINE If you can’t find a perfectly aged galvanized bucket, purchase a new one and search online for techniques to age it.

SHOW IT OFF! Offset the napkin to the upper edge of the plate to reveal the silver snowflake and layered plates below.
