JUDY LAKE IS A LAMP-SHADE MAKER.
She carefully crafts vintage materials into stunning works of illuminated art, so the decorating of her store’s front porch wasn’t that much of a stretch. Outfitted with old furnishings, clever ideas and her favorite fabrics, it comes to life as a living space from late spring to early fall. “I started with pink paint. It seemed to fit the building and makes a soft and subtle background for a mix of antiques and found objects,” Judy says. “I like to eat lunch, visit with friends or craft a lamp shade all out in the shaded open air of my friendly pink porch. The space has everything needed for cookies or cheese and crackers, a nap in the sun or shade curtains to beat the heat of a warm summer day.”
