In most homes, hol­i­day tra­di­tions in­clude singing Christ­mas car­ols, watch­ing A Char­lie Brown Christ­mas or just hav­ing a large meal. We did those things ex­cept for the singing, and that was a good thing. But the tra­di­tion I loved most started the first Christ­mas af­ter I moved out of my par­ents’ house. I was in my early 20s and ready to be on my own.
