Galen Clark’s cabin stands as a land­mark to a man whose news­pa­per sto­ries in­flu­enced law­mak­ers to pre­serve this land. Af­ter Abra­ham Lin­coln signed the Yosemite Grant Act win 1864, pro­tect­ing the Mari­posa Grove of se­quoia trees and Yosemite Val­ley, Clark was cho­sen as the first guardian. He led many trav­el­ers through the park, in­clud­ing John Muir and Ralph Waldo Emer­son.
